UNITY HOUSE PLAYERS

The Intersection of Art & Life

Through plays and musicals for youth and adults we find timeless messages in the art we produce and build community through the process.

Unity House Players is a community theater organization and outreach program of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Greater Springfield. Unity House Players strives to bring vibrant and quality inclusive theater to the Pioneer Valley where anyone can participate in the many facets of theater production.

Talented youth from the greater Springfield/ Hartford area ages 12 - 20 bring to life Sondheim's fairy tale musical mash-up about wishes, and choices. This journey of twists and turns asks the actors and audience alike to consider the stories we're told and carry as we figure out our life's path. Incorporated into the concept and costumes of the show are representations of myths of what makes for a good life found over the last century in American culture and society. From Cinderella seeking to marry for rank, to Jack's rise out of depression-era poverty the production makes relevant common themes of growing up and living authentically.

Both reserved assigned seats (premium viewing spots) and general seating are offered for the show. Premium seats are first-come, first-serve and will be assigned to the first 60 tickets purchased for the show. Special requests should be noted on your ticket order form. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Tickets are $15 (students/ seniors)/ $20 (general), plus online/ credit card fees. We believe that the arts should be accessible for all - if your financial circumstances are a barrier please contact us and we will make arrangements for discounted/ free tickets for you. Discounted group tickets are also available for groups over 10 people.

Access seating is available in all sections and our space has a ground-floor on-grade access parking entrance. It would be our pleasure to make sure your needs are met. Please contact us as early as possible so we have the most amount of resources available to offer you!

A special "Ploughman's Picnic" is available by PRE-PURCHASED tickets only, and is the only food that is allowed to be consumed in the theater space. Ticket buyer will be sent a link to make their food selections.

Unity House Players

Seeking New Artists

Unity House Players is looking to grow our community and vision!

Do you have a directorial project that you are passionate about? A production that you are longing for a chance to perform? A theater talent for which you are looking for a home? A message that needs to be seen and heard through the arts?

As we look ahead at how Unity House might evolve, we’d like to know more about you, your artistic dreams, and how we might, together, shape the future of building and supporting community through the arts!

Theater artists interested in being part of a human-values-based collaborative team are invited to make themselves known by sending a letter of introduction (please include a little about your undone passion projects) and a resume to unityhouse@uuspringfield.org so we can start the process of getting to know one another and widening our circle of talent!

WE AND THE COMMUNITY

What Our Audiences Are Saying

Stevie S.

Les Misérables

All right friends - you know I have been involved with a LOT of youth productions. They’re usually good! But this one...this is exceptional. You need to see Unity House Players Presents Les Misérables. It may be a “youth production” but these teens (and a couple little ones) have made something with an important statement. You can’t help but draw parallels between yourself in today’s world and these characters. If you’re not in it for the exceptional art - then at least go to hear the absolutely ridiculous pipes of their Javert, Enjolras, Fantine, Gavroche, Eponine and Valjean.

Anne Frank

Folks that participate in community theater always share and support each other's shows saying, "Go see the show, it's wonderful!" or "Come see me and my talented friends, you don't want to miss it!" This one is different. As I drove home, I imagined sharing my experience on Facebook...but now I keep hitting the backspace again and again. There are literally no words. Just go! This one is different!

Charles G.

Les Misérables

"Opening night was a breathtaking experience. The audience applause at the end of act one was ended only by the house lights coming up. With the immense and broad talent displayed by this cast, the future of community musical theatre in the Pioneer Valley for decades to come shines brilliantly!"
